This past Sunday, Mama and Baba introduced me to a new friend of theirs, Uncle Ricky. I was shy at first when he first came into our house and I hid behind Mama, but then I was my happy self again after he played peek-a-boo with me and made me smile for his camera. Then the best thing happened--Uncle Ricky told Mama and Baba to put me in all these different places that I was never allowed to go before...I stood on top of bookshelves and tables, crawled around the kitchen floor, jumping on the couch...And get this--all the safety gates were taken down and I was able to run around the house from kitchen to hallway to family room to living room. At first I sort of looked back at Mama and Baba to see if they would say their usual, "No, Tyler." But they didn't say anything and were smiling, so I totally went to town!!! Then we took my tricycle to the park and walked on the grass (I don't really like the prickly feeling). We played on the playground too and I was sweating like crazy. My face was so red by the time we went home. But what a fantastic day!

Molars
I think I know why I've been screaming and crying, waking Mama and Baba up at 4:30am these past few weeks...the molars are here. I've got 4 of them now! They are so useful and are helping eat all sorts of food. I think I'm discovering that I have quite the appetite for someone who's not yet 15 months! Here's a picture of my molars...Mama and Baba almost made me cry trying to take it...

First REAL Haircut
Today was a traumatic day. I should have known that there was something fishy when BOTH Mama and Baba came to pick me up from childcare. I was SO happy I kept going back and forth from Mama to Baba and Baba and Mama, not knowing who to hug. Then instead of driving home, they took me to a place called Little Scissors where we had an appointment for my first haircut at 6pm. (They said I had to get a quick trim to get ready for a photo shoot, but whatever, look at my head, do I REALLY need a haircut?!)
So we got there right at 6pm and met a little Chinese lady who seemed really nice...until she wanted to stick me into this yellow car that was high above the ground. I looked over at the other baby who was there crying from his red car and I started screaming and kept my legs straight as sticks so they couldn't bend my knees and make me sit down. She finally told Baba to sit down and hold me on his lap, but wait, the drama wasn't over. She whipped out this blanket thing that she wanted to wrap around my neck and I tried to yank it off but I couldn't. The whole time Mama was trying so hard to make me laugh, pointing to the Tigger on the tissue box, holding up toys, squeezing my hand...but who can laugh when there's a strange lady clamping down on your head and running a strange buzzing thing around your ear?! Man, I cried and cried for 7 minutes straight! Thank goodness I had so little hair--we were out the door, paid and all, by 6:10pm. Please don't take me back again any time soon!
Here's a taste of what I had to go through, sob sob...

Month in review
So what have we been up to since our last post? Busy partying every weekend! May was full of fun birthday and graduation celebrations. Then lovely baby showers and bridal showers followed in June. We had to squeeze in as much work as we could too--Kerwin had a certification exam to study for and spend many weekends at cafes studying so he wouldn't get distracted by other more fun activities (i.e. playing with Tyler). Since everyone in his company was taking the exam, not passing was NOT an option! He certainly hit the books hard this time. I had the usual end-of-school year craziness with report cards and closing up the classroom stuff to finish. Who knew it would be so hard to get something done in a timely manner when you have to keep an eye on a super-mobile drawer-opening, basket-dumping one year-old?
Our decision to move has also kept our hands full. Yes, we're putting our house up for sale! I'm getting a bit sentimental just thinking about it. We love being here in our home--it was the first place Kerwin and I owned together, where he proposed to me, where we got married, where we had our first baby...but it is time for us to start searching for our next home for our family to grow into. So we've been packing packing packing! No me gusta packing. We've got a great realtor who's been gently nudging us along so we can take advantage of the summer months to sell. Hopefully you'll hear good news about this soon!

Father's Day
Baba hasn't had dimsum in a long time, so Mama and I took him to Koi Garden in Dublin for Father's Day. It was my first time really enjoying dimsum food and I dig it! I ate almost a whole char siu bao bbq pork bun, cheung fun rice noodles, and ngau yuen beef meatballs. You should have seen the big fat smile on Baba's face when he saw that I liked the meatball. He's thrilled that I'll be a carnivore with him! I guess that was the best Father's Day present ever. Then we went to look at some houses around the area. I heard Mama and Baba talking about maybe finding our next house around here. Yay! That means I can come have dimsum more often! What do you know? I DO love food afterall...just like my parents. Here I am enjoying my dimsum...

Summer is finally here!
Today was the last work day and I'm feeling quite proud of what I've accomplished this school year. It's been very much a challenge trying to juggle being a first time mom, nursing and pumping, being a wife, teaching full time with a class that is hands-down the toughest group I've had in all my years of teaching...You know the feeling you get when your legs are exhausted but you still have to keep moving so your head stays out of the water? I think that was me the whole time...but now, it feels REALLY rewarding to look back on what I've done and know that I've made it!! Thanks to all the family and friends who've helped and encouraged me and our family along one way or another--it's a blessing to have you in my life!
